Thousands of years ago, the ancient peoples bonded with animal spirits. These spirits—called talismans—guided them and helped them throughout their life. Today, those spirits have become part of us, lending us their power.
An age-long conflict rages between two shape-shifter factions. Each side does whatever it takes to gain the upper hand.
The struggles continues, centering in Noatak, a small town in western Canada. Whom will you fight with? Will you stay out of the way while each faction seeks recruits?
But evermore trouble comes from yander way. A new enemy has arisen and begun to commit genocide on all factions. Their killings and attacks are often misguided, and average citizens are paying a blood price.
The war has been put on hold as two enemies are forced to join together to protect what is theirs. Tensions are high; unease and mistrust plague the minds of both sides. It would not take much to break this teetering alliance.
Whatever you do, don’t take anyone's labels at face value.

Fall: Chill wind now blows the dying leaves off trees at a steadily increasing pace. Animal sightings are becoming increasingly rare as they focus their attention on preparing for the bitter winter soon to come. The temperature is in its medium, where almost all people with talismans can find some sort of comfort in the sun or shade.

The Nine Muses Cafe The busiest cafe in Noatak, the Nine Muses boasts two floors and a balcony so customers can sit outside when it's nice. Live music is offered by local musicians on Fridays, and the whole place smells strongly of gourmet coffee.

Uncle Sam's Pizza Pies Uncle Sam's family has owned this place for as long as anyone can remember. His pizzas are the best you can get, complemented with a root beer float and french fries. The subs are also delicious. The old Jukebox in the corner is always playing.

The Kingfisher By the look of the antiques shop, The Kingfisher had been closed for decades. The front door opens up into the dump at the back instead of the main street. The front display, despite the fact that nobody works here and that the door is welded shut, changes on a day-to-day basis. It certainly has an air of secrecy about it, making it an ideal spot for a dare or an adventure.
Sunset Avenue Mall (4 sub-boards) The Sunset Ave. Mall has a collection of stores for everybody's needs. It's a great place to hang out and meet new people or to go with old friends just to get together.
The Gardens This is a very peaceful park in the center of town that has playgrounds for young kids, a skate park, a cute little pond, and a small petting zoo. The gardens of flowers and mazes of trees make it an ideal place to relax and have a nice picnic.
Noatak Clinic The clinic is on the smaller side but still well equipped. They can handle anything from a small cut to a serious accident. The nurses and doctors are very friendly and are often your next-door neighbors.

Noatak School All grades, Pre-K through 12th grade, are clustered into one sprawling set of buildings. The covered hallways spanning between structures may get crowded during class changes, but the students are normally level-headed and the teachers are watchful and fair, with a few exceptions to each side, of course.
An open field with tall grass and flowers. Many grazers come here for food and peace. Dotted with a few trees for shade, it is a perfect place to have fun and relax. The wind creates waves through the tall grass that the white-tailed deer love to chase.
A beautiful forest with many pine trees. Needles cover the ground, making a soft bed to walk on. The light shines through in patches of sun and shade. The trees sway, bending and creaking in the breeze. At night, the atmosphere can be eerie because of the drifting fog.
A large lake with a nice, warm, sandy beach. During summer, animals and people alike enjoy bathing in the cool waters. The crystal-clear waters lay at the base of several large mountains, giving it an aura of seclusion. The wind creates mesmerizing ripples along the surface.
This mountain is an extinct volcano. Animals dwell here because of its fertile soils and fresh foliage. In the morning, the mountain is always covered in a blanket of fog, hence its name. There are many trails that lead to its peak, but only the bravest attempt it.
An Indian shaman lived here hundreds of years ago. There are other stone buildings around but none have stood against time as well as the temple. Both Innocents and Hunters come here, so watch your back.
Here is an old log cabin that lies in the middle of the woods. No one has lived here for years, leaving it unattended. The furniture is still intact and the fireplace still works. There is even a small barn in the back with remnants of a small paddock fence. The Innocents use this as a meeting place.
A medium-sized burial ground on which no-one has walked in years. It is said to be haunted by all the spirits of the Indians. Show respect and they leave you unharmed; disrespect them and you pay. There is also a cluster of tall, faded totem poles.
Along a wide river that feeds into the lake lies an abandoned boat dock with a warehouse. It is very spooky at night, with the sound of waves splashing against the dock. Outside, the warehouse appears empty, with its windows and doors covered by wood planks, but be careful when entering. It is not empty. Hunters use this as a meeting place.
Getting a bit tired of seeing Noatak every day? Want to take a trip? Well, this is everywhere and anywhere that isn't Noatak, whether it be as close as Toronto or as far as China, watching the sunsets on the beach or a tour of the Alps. This is far and wide, and anywhere but here. This is the world.
