"I don't want Ant to know. I'd rather have him not informed." August wasn't comfortable with lying to Ant, but her and Ant weren't close anymore.. so it'd be okay."You're too young to be my mom. I guess you could pass as my cousin. That way they won't need to talk to Ant. You can just pretend to be my Legal Guardian." August started to sleep, but she didn't want that.
She thought about exciting things like jousts and fairytales, but instead of keeping her awake, it acted like a storybook. August wasn't asleep.. yet. "I.. Uh. What's your talisman's name?" She laid down on her bed, only because her head felt heavy. August fought off sleep, and felt like she was losing.
((..this is so short. I'm sorry.))

((OOC- It's fine.)) Kayla gave August a questioning look. "Why don't you want this Ant person to know? If he's the one watching out for you... I don't do responsibilities like this. It means I have to pay the bill." Her words were true. She hated big responsibilities. They got in the way of all the fun. Or at least... that was her opinion on the matter. But she'd go through with the cousin thing though. That was easier than anything else. Though she could, technically, also be August's babysitter. That made her chuckle slightly.
Kayla could sense that August was fast falling asleep. "Good. Maybe I can get some as well." she thought to her devil. He just nodded, drowsy himself. August's question did give Kayla something to think about before she drifted off completely. "I dunno. He doesn't really have one. Devil, maybe? To her devil she thought "Why don't you have a name?" He shrugged his shoulders. "You never gave me one..." He thought back, yawning. "Well then... it's Devil." Kayla could be terribly creative when it came to getting what she wanted but when it came to simple things like names she was horrible. The kind of person who named their stuffed bear Bear.
Kayla was suddenly very tired as well. Apparently injuries forced people to rest. What a bummer. Kayla hated being so... inactive. Especially at night. Like her talisman, Kayla enjoyed the night, especially when it came to partying and all that jazz. That was just her cup of tea. She'd have ot take August out one time. It was easy for Kayla to get fake IDs. She still had friends in Vancouver, some of them very useful. Then she yawned and her thoughts became a bit muggy. Sleep seemed to be inevitable.

"I don't know.." August didn't feel like diverging her secrets to Kayla. It made her feel vulnerable. She waved away the mention of the bill. "We're skipping that." Her eyes closed and she listened to the sounds of the hospital. She knew she wouldn't be able to sleep with that awful noise. It was oddly silent, but more like a morbid silence, than a calming or peaceful one. "Devil? That's really creative." The name didn't sound feminine, that meant Kayla's talisman was a boy. "I didn't know your talisman could be the opposite gender." She slurred her words, not really bothering to pronounce things clearly. August was too tired.. She peaked over at Kayla and noticed her eyes were closed. Did that mean she'd gone to bed?
The silence got louder, and August was painfully aware that people died in hospitals. People were dying in the next room for all she knew. Families were crying. People were in pain here.. August got up. No way she could sleep now. She paced back and forth across the room. Her head felt clouded and muddled, she blamed it on the drugs. August hyperventilated and her paces quickened. She couldn't stay here. This place was going to drive her crazy.

Kayla sensed August's hesitation when she asked about Ant. So August didn't trust her yet.. good. That made things much less complicated for her anyways. Trust wasn't one one of her virtues. Lying, manipulating and stealing, yes, but trusting, no. And there was the part about the bill. "How exactly do you skip the money part?" Money, was arguably, the most important thing on this earth. Every crime that could be committed, whether it was murder, fraud, assault, had been done over money. There was no way to just skip that part. "Well you could live like a hermit or something and have no money at all." her devil thought, jokingly. Kayla just snorts.
Kayla yawned again, cursing when her vision suddenly went out of focus again. "Right. Well cuz, I'm tired. I'm going to sleep. If the nurse comes back jus' tell her to shove it." She struggled to finish her sentence, yawning again. "Just go to sleep already." Her devil yawned. It was light, and being nocturnal, he was always tired during the day anyways, but after the past events, he was even more tired. And so was Kayla. And so she drifted off, yawning one last time. Hopefully August would go to sleep too.. it was awkward when Kayla was sleeping around people who were awake. It just gave her weird dreams that were never pleasant... her thoughts drifted off as she passed out. [/blockquote]

August didn't feel the need to answer Kayla's question. She thought it was obvious and hoped Kayla would get it without an explanation. You just leave unnoticed. She watched Kayla drift to sleep, unable to stop pacing. August thought about calling the nurse or doctor, but decided against it. They'd just poke and prod at her arm, and she didn't want that. August was silently debating which was worse, not being able to move her arm, or the annoying as heck doctors. It was a good question, that really didn't have an answer. She tried moving her fingers again, and sighed in relief when her pinky twitched. That meant it would get better, right?
August hummed to herself, and paced to the tempo of her song. She wondered how long she should stay before ditching the bill. August wondered a lot of things. Some about Ant, some about Kayla, some about Frost, her mind was all over the place. August tried to order her thoughts, but to no avail. There was too much to worry about, and too much to pay attention to. August let out a frustrated sigh. Things had gotten a lot more complicated.

There was a maze, dark and filled with mist. It had a very dark and ominous feel too it. And Kayla was running through it, though she didn't know what she was running from. But every time she looked back a feeling of complete and horrifying terror kept her running forewords. After what seemed like forever she reached the end of the maze, only to find out that it was really just a dead end. Her heart stops and she turns around, waiting for whatever's chasing her to come out of the shadows. Foot steps could be heard, seemingly pacing back and forth, but right as they come closer... Kayla wakes up, gasping for breath.
She sits up violently, cussing when her stomach protests but the pain brings her world back into focus and she remembers where she is, who she's with. She looks around, finally seeing August, who's pacing around. A part of her dream comes back to her, the sound of pacing footsteps. "You! That was your fault." Her words only make sense in her head but she glares at August as if she should know exactly what she'd done. She was conscious enough, however, to know that mentioning the fact that her dream had scared her was a bad thing.
Then her head starts throbbing again and she puts her hand to her head, cussing again when some tube or other gets in the way. "My head hurts... make it stop." Her words are slurred and barely understandable but her expression makes it all clear. She looks at August, who seems a bit blurry. "Well... are you going to help or no? But... don' get a doctor. Damn people have no idea what they're doing at all." [/blockquote]

August was startled at Kayla's sudden awakening. She looked behind her, making sure Kayla was talking to her. "I'm sorry." She mumbled, without being entirely sure what she was sorry for. Kayla looked sick and frightened. August thought about the nurses, but they'd probably blame it on the alcohol. She finally stopped pacing, and just stared. "Wh..What do you want me to do? I don't know anything about medicine." Her pacing started up again as she thought. Kayla said no doctors, though that would have made things a lot easier. She couldn't really blame the lady, August wouldn't have wanted doctors either.
"Give me a minute to think." Kayla whined about her head, and told August to hurry up. She paced faster, hoping it would give her an idea. It did, but it wasn't a good one. "Maybe i could knock you unconscious? No.. that would hurt.. and you already have a concussion... nevermind." She shook her head, August wasn't helping. Her pacing footsteps got louder, Slow down with the pacing. A nurse will hear. August tried, but she couldn't stop. She mumbled incoherent words, trying to get her thoughts in order. Kayla wasn't looking so good..

Kayla's thoughts were still muddled as she listened to August's words. Her temper flared at her seemingly weak excuse. "And you think I do?" She glares at August again, and then puts her head in her hands. The world is spinning out of control and Kayla's still delirious. Her devil had woken up by now and was thoroughly worried by the things going around in Kayla's head. Mostly they were just flashbacks of the dream, the feeling of terror that didn't seem to be going away. "I think you need to wake up." He thinks critically.
Kayla ignores August's next words and instead untangles herself from the sheets and swings her legs over the side of the bed. She gets up and takes a step, cursing when all the tubes and needles get in the way. She rips out the I.V needle and everything else connecting her to the bed, setting alarms off, and walks into the bathroom, cussing up a storm all the way. She stumbles her way to the sink and washes her face, finally waking up completely. Her head is pounding though and she's sure there's a million nurses and doctors rushing towards the room so she walks back to her bed and sits down again, looking at August. "Sorry about that. Wasn't all the way here." Her voice is joking as the first frantic footsteps could be heard in the hallway. "Oh boy." her devil thinks, preparing himself. [/blockquote]

The footsteps pounded throughout the hallway, and sent cold water rushing down August's spine. She slammed the door shut but it didn't have a lock. She dragged something in front of the door, and breathed in some new strange-tasting air. It tasted of power and spontaneity. This is what August was. She had no idea why she did what she did, it just felt like what she should have done. The alarm that should make her panic, did the contrary. It soothed her and gave her a strange feeling of euphoria. She listened with cold amusement to the shouts from the other side. It felt like they were in a different world, and here she was alone with just herself. August frowned. .. We're not alone.
That's when August remembered Kayla. She was interrupting, but August felt forgiving. She walked over and unplugged the alarm, somewhat sorry that it was gone. She shrugged, silence was just as beautiful as the alarm, maybe even more. It rang a gorgeous ring that didn't stop, or die, but grew. The silent music broke as the shouts of the doctors came back. They were banging on the door, trying to shove their way in. It was kind of rude..
August stood there, a little numb. She didn't know what else to do. She couldn't leave, but she didn't want to stay. The doctors would be mad when they finally got in, but August didn't feel like being yelled at. Everything was going wrong, but that made her a little happy. "After all, everything does go wrong eventually. It's sort of inevitable." She said aloud. August forgot she wasn't alone, and didn't really feel the need to keep her thoughts contained. She sat down on the bed and hummed, keeping her eyes on the door, waiting for the doctors.
August couldn't sober up from her strange high, and to be frank, she didn't want to.

Kayla just raised her eyebrows at August. Apparently there were two slightly crazy people in the room today. That was just fine. It made thing just so much more interesting. A smile flashes across Kayla's face as she watches August barricade the door and then unplug the alarm. "Thank god for that." she thinks. The alarm wasn't doing anything to help the pounding in her head, but then again neither was the pounding at the door.
She grimaces, ignoring August's nonsensical words and get's up again, somehow ignoring the pain in her side. The doctors had almost pushed open the door and they were yelling at Kayla and August, but they couldn't see them. Kayla looked for her clothes, skinny jeans and a top. When she found them her gaze turned back to August. "You have about two seconds to make a decision. Are you going to follow or are you going to stay here, and deal with them?" With that she turned towards the open window.
It just had a thin, mesh screen between her and the ground outside. She quickly pops it out and then climbs out, swearing as the movement caused a sharp stab of pain in her side. Then she'd outside, her bare feet on the ground. She quickly pulls on her shoes, ignoring her stomach's desperate protests. Then the looks at Flight. a questioning look on her face. "You coming?" [/blockquote] ((OOC- Yeah... I'm not really sure what just happened there...))

Coming? Of course she was coming. Where else would she go?
Kayla didn't have to ask twice. August ignored the Doctors, screaming for someone to come with anesthetics, or something like that. She jumped from the window, not bothering to think. She didn't need to. The ground felt good against her feet, and a little smile crawled across her face. They hadn't taken her clothes, because she hadn't been there that long. August calmed down a little now that she was outside in the fresh air. All the stank of the hospital only a distant memory. She popped a lollipop in her mouth, and swayed to a song she had heard years ago. August gave Kayla a little smile. They weren't the best of friends. No, best friends they were not. Kayla ripped up August's arm, and August took a chunk from Kayla's side. Last time she checked, best friends don't bite.
There was an awkward pause in August's thoughts. She was fine with wandering; she did it all the time, but August wasn't sure if Kayla had a plan or not. She felt it'd be rude to just walk away. After all, Kayla might not be her best friend, but she was more than just an acquaintance. August looked at the ground, deep in thought. Her face blank, she realized she just couldn't leave Kayla, especially in Kayla's condition. August wiggled her fingers, a little frustrated that was all she could accomplish.
Her face was still blank. August was still looking at the floor. Her fingers twitched. "Do you have a plan or a place to go?" Her words were almost drown out by shouts and another alarm. It felt more like a jail-break than a hospital-ditch.
