Kali laughed. "I'd love you anyway!" she said. In fact, his words reminded her of a country song by Randy Travis. She would have to play it for him later if she could find it. "And if you got a beer belly, it'd probably be from me feeding you, not old age." She smiled. Italians lived for food. The women were always cooking, their men forced to be the guinea pigs who had to try it. But the rarely complained. And she intended to feed him like an Italiano. Even if she herself was only half.
Her face turned a little deeper shade of pink when he called her ravishing, they way he did. And that smile and those eyes.... Kali couldn't help but giggle a bit. She felt silly, squirming like a little girl whenever a boy looked at her. But she couldn't help it. He made her heart jump.
Kali let them take her finished plate away and looked at the menu with him. "It all looks good to me." she said. There was cakes of all kinds and crembrule, icecream and flambe. All the names really did sound French. "I think I'm going to have a small slice of cake." she said. It was one of the cheaper things on the menu. And you couldn't go wrong with cake.

Ryan laughed with her and sat forward in the chair, giving her a smile and running his hand through his brown hair. I thin I'd be ok with that. You're a good cook and that for the rest of my life, well, I'd be one happy man. Not to mention there would be you. He turned back to the menu and nodded in agreement. Cake it is. He said and he motioned for the waitress to come over and he ordered two pieces of cake as well as a pot of coffe for him and if Kali wanted any.
A few minutes later the coffee and cake came and Ryan groaned. Wow that cake looks good. You want some coffee with that? He asked her as he poured himself a cup, mixing in sugar and cream. He took a sip and smiled, then moved on to the cake. Hmmm. Both are good.

"Maybe just a little coffee, thanks." she said, pouring herself about half a glass into the second coffee mug that had come with the pot. Adding a bit of cream and sugar, she stirred it and took a sip. It was wonderful coffee. And it went well with the cake. Scrumptious.
She looked over across the table at him as he ate his dessert. She could somewhat see his hyena characteristics. The brown hair and handsome jaw, though she knew its strength when in animal form. She had witnessed it. And she felt safe with him. She took another bite of cake, admiring him. And wondering about him. She was still curious about his past, but it seemed to painful to him for her to ask.
Kali took a sip of the wine, only after realizing that she had meant to sip the coffee. But the flavor surprised her a little. "The wine goes good with cake too." she said, though she preferred the coffee.

Ryan nodded to her and handed her the coffee pot. Ryan had finished his cake in about three or four bites, eating was a gift of his for he could pound it away. He often liked to think it was the talisman, for Hyena's could easily put 50 pounds of meat away, for they never knew when they would eat next. he took another sip of his coffee and topped it off, adding a smidge more cream. He caught the waitresses eye and signaled for the check with his hand. He looked across the table at Kali as he waited for the check.
I hope you like everything, food, service, the place, your gift. Now what to do next? He glanced at his watch and noted it was only just past 9pm. Night was still pretty young. Its your choice. It really was, they could go out dancing, which he hated, or just go to bed, watch a movie, he didn't care, the night was perfect so far.
The check arrived and Ryan opened the little black folder and eyed the figures. $122.57. He sliped out his credit card and tucked it into the flap and closed the book, the card just sticking out of the top. He slid it to the edge of the table and crossed his arms.

"I loved it all! Thank you. This has been the best night I've ever had." she told him honestly. And it really was. The restaurant, the food, the wine, the service, the music, the bracelet, everything was wonderful. Most of all, him.
"Do? I'm not sure." she said, thinking. It was only nine o'clock. Anything he wanted was fine with her. He had bought dinner, afterall. "What would you like to do?" she asked. "I'm game for anything."
She finished her cake and let the waitress take it away. The music was sweet, warding off the silence of the night. "I had a lovely time." she told him. "Everything was amazing."

Ryan smoothed out his shirt just as the woman brought back his card and the receit to sign. He put his card back in his black leather wallet and leaned forward on the table. He gave her a smile and said, Really, we could go home and relax, or we could go see a movie, or go walk in the park. As long as it involves you. And maybe some kissing.
He teased her. Maybe not a movie, a bit corney to make out in there you know? He reached across the table and took her hand into his and rubbed his fingers gently over her smooth skin. With his other hand he polished off the rest of the wine. Im ready to get going whenever you are my dear. He added in a cute fake british accent. He lifted her hand and placed a kiss on the back of it. Im trying to think if there are any other options to do in this small town. Didnt't get much. He laughed.

Kali smiled a little, even though she knew he was teasing. She had secretly been hoping for some kissing herself. "Kissing sounds good to me." she said quietly, smiling.
When he kissed her hand, her eyes sparkled at him as she pulled his hand across the table to kiss his fingers as well. "I like that accent." she said, standing. "And I'm ready to go now, too." She smoothed her dress quickly and pushed in her chair, placing the napkin on the table. And she walked close to him, tugging at his fingers and taking his hand.

Ryan smiled his little boy cute smile and stood, letting Kali take his hand, together they walked out of the restaurant. Their waitress said thank yous and have a good night. Ryan nodded politley and responded before leading her out the door. They wated for a matter of seconds before Ryan's truck was pulled up. Ryan open Kali's door and held out his hand, for the truck was high and tricky to get into, especially in heels. He went to the other side and got in, driving away from the curb. So where to my lady? You pick. He drove slowly to give her more time to choose what she wanted to do. Ryan didn't care, he just wanted to relax with her somewhere. He reached forward and turned the radio on low and put the air on low as well to circulate the air in the cab. He looked at her across the center console and smile again. I just can't get over how pretty you are. And how you must be a crazy bat for picking me. He laughed again.

Kali thanked him as he helped her into the car, and then she thought about where they were to go. "We could go for a walk." she suggested. "Like we did when we first met. The gardens are nice." she said. That night before, they had gone to a boulder that he knew of. But the gardens were nice too, especially in spring.
She smiled. "Thank you." she said. "You are very handsome, yourself." And then looked at him, chuckling a bit. "Crazy bat? I don't think so. You were the one who picked me, remember?" She reached over and took his hand, forcing him to drive with only one. "And how lucky I am that you did." she said, holding his hand to her lips and kissing his fingers again. "If anyone is crazy here, it's you. All those other girls in the bar, and you picked me." She gave a soft laugh, wondering why it was that he had picked her, but wondering if it was alright to ask.

Ryan shook his head. I may have picked you, but you certaintly could have told me to screw myself. He didn't have to go out on a date, or keep seeing me, or allow me to kiss you and sweap you off your feet. He teased, with one hand on the wheel he turned down the road towards the gardens. It was pretty much empty tonight, minus the rare couple that had the same idea. He parked on the dirt parking lot and went over to the other side to help her get out of the car. He put his arm around her waist and tugged her closer, so their sides were now pressing against one another. He looked up in the sky and took a deep breath. It felt good to be outside, away from all the crowds.
Ryan headed towards the little pond and went to the path that walked around in, it even had a little side pond with a cute bridge across it. He led her to the bridge and right at the center he stopped, turned her and pulled her closer in an embrace. His lips touched hers and he pulled her closer, lifting her feet just off the ground. He kissed her deep and long, not wanting to let go. He let her down and kissed her forehead. My jem. What you see in me I still don't know. I used to be a sleezy player. He frowed at what he used to be, a Hunter among other things. He's killed before, being one of them.

She moaned softly as he kissed her, and her hands went to his face instinctively and affectionately. "Used to be." she repeated after him. "But you're not now. And it takes a man to make that change." softly, she pressed her lips against his, but only for a short while, because she wasn't finished talking. "You respect me and my wishes, even when you want to go against them. You are kind and gentle when you kiss me, not that I'd mind if you were rough, but it says a lot about you. You aren't greedy, and you don't run your hands all over me like a lot of men do to other girls at the bar. You aren't selfish like them. You are protective of me, and I of you. You are sweet and funny and charming. Handsome is just icing on the cake." she smiled at him, kissing him softly again. "You are patient, and you put up with my slow pace. You put up with me. Your heart is big and your mind is good. You are strong, inside and out. And you're smart, Ryan, you really are. Not to mention," she said, letting her fingers comb though his hair, "You are an excellent kisser."

Ryan held her close and looked into her eyes and she spoke about him. He didn't always see everything she said, but it was often hard to judge yourself in a positive manner. At least for him. When she said that he doesn't run his hands all over her like the other guys, he smiled his evil smile, and slide his hands down to her ass, grabbing firmly and pulled her hips into his. You mean like that? And he released her, hoping she saw it was a joke. He gave a teasing roll of his eyes after even more complements and a break down of who and what he was. He was surprised at it, but it also made him feel like he was in a spotlight and it made him a bit uncomfortable.
He took her hand and started to alk off the bridge to continue waling around th pond, then maybe on a path through the bushes, trees and flower. There were scattered benches along the path for people to sit, and after a few minutes of walking he saw a nice white wood gazebo. He smiled and led her over to it. The edges had small lights dangling from them, just enough to see but not too bright. Now this is perfect.

She was a surprised as he touched her, but she didn't object. He knew he was only playing. "Yes, like that. Kind of." she answered. Men at Oceana were worse. She had watched them.
Kali followed him as they walked, silent and enjoying his company. The night was beautiful, starry and clear with moonlight, save for in the trees, where it was blocked. When they stopped at the gazebo, admired the little lights. It was perfect, just as he said. "Yes." she agreed. This entire night was perfect.

Ryan laughed at her response and moved his arm to sit politely around her waist. He starred off into the pond and a smile creapt to his face. He was about to make a joke about skinny dipping but figured it might be going to far. Then again she could wear bra and panties...he shook the thought out of his head. Man, it was getting tough. The more he spent time with her, the more he loved her, craved her, wanted her. It was growing more and more difficult to keep thoughts at bay. But he had to try. He tried to change the subject. Do you think this war will ever end?
He turned to look at her and reached forward to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. He placed his hand back on her waist and hips but feeling her curves made the naughty thoughts return. He took his hand away from her. Guys were never good at going months and months without. He bit his lip and looked out into the park.

"It will." she said, closing her eyes as he tucked her hair, loving his fingertips on her face. And then she looked at him again. "In time." Kali leaned against the rail of the gazebo, following his gaze out to the park. "Don't worry." she told him, assuming that that was why he had let go of her. She couldn't read his mind. "I'm sure it will end." How could it not? Everything ended, at one point or another. As much as people wanted to believe it, Hell could not exist on Earth. Not really exist. Yes, there were demons and there was a devil, but Hell itself could not. And even those would die, in time. This wasn't the Holocaust, and even that had ended. But then again, she had never been inside that mansion. She shook the thought from her head.
Kali kept looking from Ryan to the park, wondering. It was a beautiful night. And he was lost in thought. "What are you thinking about?" she asked.
