What's Your Cover;;
Appearance: Despite Kai’s look appearance, he is considered an “adult” by law. He is somewhat thin due to his sickness along with his slightly pale skin, he use to be darker when he was healthy. He has somewhat medium length hair although one could easily say it’s on the shorter side. He usually dresses in your basic jeans and sweater combo. The colors are, for the most part, alterations between white and black. He just like how they are total opposite colors yet they look so well together. Unknown to many, he has a pair of reading glasses that he uses from time to time. But, he prefers not to use them in public believe it makes him look too nerdy like. Not that he has anything against nerds he just doesn’t want to look like them.
Personality: Kai could be best described as timid. He doesn’t have much self-confidence in anything he does. He fears of failing so much that he prefers not to take the chance. He is always unsure about every choice he is given. Many wonder why is he like this? Well to begin with, he still hasn’t received his talisman yet. He is proficient everything, but not superb in anything either. This trait makes him unsure of what he is supposed to be by animal and by life. He keeps most things to himself in fear of being ridiculed by those around him. To sum this all up he’s one big mess for the most part.
He also lacks a lot of emotional expressions. He always seems tired or just out of it. This is mostly due to the fact he feels it takes to much effort to be energetic. Maybe that’s why he secretly likes to hang out around them. They have something he doesn’t and hopefully one day it rubs off on him or something.
Despite his negative view on himself, he always sees how great things are around him. He has a deep appreciation for nature and art, even though he considers himself “art challenged”. It’s true he enjoys anyone’s type of art no matter what they may be. But, he still has a preference. It doesn’t mean that the ones he like is better then the others, it’s just he prefers to see or listen to them. He enjoys looking at cooler colors like blue and green. This is also the same with his choice of music. He likes calm and soothing sounds.
He also has a lot of confidence in others, believing that they were destined for greater things. When he likes someone, he doesn’t say it sadly. This is mostly due to past experiences with a person he loved. This makes him take up, by default, the role as the friend you can cry on rather then the role of being a boyfriend. Even though he has fallen from favor in his family he still respects them. He would pretty much do anything for them in hopes of gaining some recognition that so far hasn’t happened. This applies to friends as well although he has a very small amount of friends.
He enjoys reading from time to time for entertainment purposes. Don’t take it the wrong way, it’s not like he’s super into it. He prefers to read at a slow steady pace. This leads on to the next thing about Kai. He doesn’t really have a dominant trait. He’s not super smart, wise, strong, or fast. He’s just “average”, as one would put it.
Respect is one thing he always has for everyone. It may be one of the few actually traits that one could associate him with. He always sows his respect to friends, family, deceased, and nature. He is never careless towards natures and yet closely attached to it. If he sees an animal running away from a predator, he doesn’t go out of his way to help the escaping animal. He sees it as the basic structure of nature. If there were a natural fire forest fire, he wouldn’t stop it or save animals as he sees that this event was bound to happen by nature. When it comes to respecting people, he would always give a fair chance for his opponent to get their message across if he and they are having a disagreement.
Kai is also quite good at keeping or hiding secret from others, especially the secret about his condition. No one knows about it, but he’s been sick for a long time. Well, not “no one” per say, his doctor knows about it but he hasn’t contacted her for a long time. This is mostly due to the belief that his fate is already sealed and it’s no use fighting it.
He hates relying on others, but he knows that if he doesn’t from time to time he would surely fail at his task. He feels as if it’s a burden on them to ask for help.
Tell me where you've been;;
History: Kai was born in the golden state of California. He had a decent childhood. It wasn’t to extravagant, yet it wasn’t horrible. Both of his parents had a talisman. Then again, everyone in his family had one. Kai was a bright child back then. Adventurous and curious were some of the few outstanding qualities he had back then. He had a decent school life as well. He wasn’t with the popular group but wasn’t with the loners either. He was in the midsection. However, from time to time he would talk to the other groups. Keep the loners company and just hang out with the popular crowd oh so often. One thing he prided himself on in those days was his multiple difference in friends. It did come with its problems though. He couldn’t get al his friends to visit him at the same time without a large riot.
Above all there was a girl at her school. The very moment he met her, he could tell that they would be more then friends. Pretty soon they were almost inseparable. They did almost everything together. This relationship seemed to last forever for Kai. Little did he knew back then that it wasn’t meant to be. Like many relationships, they have to end. Theirs occurred when she moved. They promised to keep in touch. But, you know what happens to many long distance relationships. They begin to fade away like a memory.
Fast forwarding to the end of high school, almost everyone by this time gained their talisman in his family. Even the cousins younger then him had gotten theirs already by this time. This made Kai feel somewhat alienated from the others. In actually he was, very much alienated. Most of his family member treated him as a contagious disease. He wasn’t allowed to hang out with his cousins. His parents also were losing their patience. At first they figured he was a late boomer. But, the criticism they were getting from the other members of the family was taking its toll. Kai tried his best to please them in other way, but nothing worked. Pretty soon his relationship with his family began to get more friction.
He finished High School on a dull rainy day. Not many of his family members came to see him. Actually none of his family members came to see them even though he lied to everyone saying that they were in the stands. It didn’t matter much to him. Today was his day to shine. You see he was chosen out of hundreds of applicants to make a graduation speech. Also, after graduation he could finally move out. He couldn’t handle being yelled at all the time so he decided that maybe it would be better just to move out for a while. Little did he know that life had a lot in store for him still.
A few days later while he was packing his fainted in his room. His parents said it wasn’t anything big. But, Kai had that funny feeling, that I was more then just nothing. The doctor said he had a mysterious type of disease in his body. It’s not contagious but it is said to limit his body. She, the doctor, said that it would cause sudden weakness in muscle, fainting, temporary blindness, and such. She didn’t know what to make of it. There of course was no real cure for it yet since there is only one person, Kai, has it. After a year of testing Kai told the doctor that he no longer wishes to be treated anymore. He just wanted to live a normal life, even though it’s a bit late to do so now.
The Doctor told him she had an estimate of his life span if he would like to know. Kai denied this offer. He didn’t want to count down the years. He told her he rather it be a mystery. He returned home to his family for what he believed to be the last time. He didn’t tell them about this sickness that plagued him. He rather have them view him as at least a healthy boy. He took his stuff and left to the airport. Once he reached there he checked the brochures or places to go. He had saved up a lot of money from his high school days so he had enough to go anywhere. But, he didn’t feel like going somewhere big or extravagant. It was then he got an idea. He would visit the one he missed so much for years. His first and so far only one he truly loved. He booked a flight to New York. The trip wasn’t that bad. He only blacked out once and the flight attendants were kind enough to take him to his seat when that occurred.
Once he reached New York he called his former girlfriend. She seemed shocked to hear his voice. But, they set up a meeting place and time. Pretty soon he was face to face with her. The one he had fallen for. The one, to his surprise, was now taken. Apparently, Kai didn’t get the memo, but she had moved on. She had another boyfriend now and she suggested that he do the same. They had around a 30 minutes discussion before Kai left with a furious tempter. That may be one of the few times that he actually genuinely pissed. That was the beginning of his “lack of showing emotion” phase. It wasn’t that he didn’t have emotions; he just no longer saw the point in showing them as they take up to much energy.
After a few days in the “Big Apple” he went back to the airport. Now it was truly time to move on. It wasn’t like anything in this life was all worth cherishing. So he skimmed the billions of brochures for an interesting place to visit or to stay. In the end he had no luck finding a suitable place. So he figured he would leave it up to fate to decide. He went to one of the gift shops and asked if he could buy a world map. It was one over priced map, but it didn’t really matter. If it decided where he would spend the next half of his life, it my as well be worth buying an expensive map as a souvenir. So he spread the map out and closed his eyes. He placed his index finger on the map and moved it around randomly. He continued this action for 2 or 3 more minutes before stopping and looking at where he would go. Noatak, Canada was the place he was pointing at. It was odd because his finger landed directly on the town. He would figure he would have to estimate what town was closer to his finger, but he supposed he didn’t have to this time.
He then booked a flight for this small place in hopes to start all over. True, he was hesitant of going. It took him a whole day to decide whether to go. In the end he figured that life is to short anyway. Mine aswell live a little while he still had the choice.
