Appearance:In his late thirties, Gibbs is broad-shouldered, his skin the color of caramel and he is well-muscled and athletic. His black hair is cut close to his scalp, and usually covered by a dark hat. A dark goatee occupies his pointed chin. Below thick eyebrows resides deep-set, hard brown eyes. They are the eyes of a disciplined man, but not the eyes of one with a cold heart. His nose is broad and a little flat, obviously broken and never properly healed.
Underneath his shirt lies a hidden army dog tag on a long chain that hangs from around Gibbs's neck. He usually keeps it hidden, because it's part of his job. His left ear is pierced with a single, simple stud. He normally wears whatever the weather calls for - light clothes in the summer and heavy in the winter. Nothing fancy, everything simple and unremarkable. Sometimes, though, he will mess up and accidentally wear something with mismatched or even overly-matched colors, because he is completely colorblind and can only seen in black, white and the shades in between.
Perhaps the most noticeable thing about Gibbs is the dog that accompanies him - a large female German Shepherd named Ava. She is always one step in front of Gibbs, never leaving her master's side. She is fiercely loyal, extremely protective, highly-trained and in-tuned with even the smallest gesture Gibbs makes toward her. She is black and brown with lighter flakes on her shoulders and and elbows. A typical-looking German Shepherd, but one with much intelligence and determination that she is set apart from even most police dogs.
Personality: Some might say that Gibbs is cold. Others, just not sociable. Still others would say withdrawn, maybe even shy. Only two of those are true. Gibbs is withdrawn from the rest of society by the simple fact that he doesn't trust people, and he lets them know it just by his quietness in conversations and his serious demeanor. Gibbs is not cold - in fact, he is quite kind and friendly. A person just needs to be ready or at least willing to dig a little to find it.
Gibbs is a protective man and defends those he loves with a passion. He is a safe-guard, a barrier that will bite back. And when he bites, he gets mad. He is not a man you would want mad. He knows how to fight and he's not afraid to kick someone's ass. He is unendingly loyal, and it sometimes gets him hurt. Someone he truly trusts will stay that way.
Whereas some men simply run, Gibbs turns and fights. He doesn't fight for the sake of it - he fights to win. Whether it be a battle between him and his boss or him and someone he doesn't know who just wanted to pick a fight, Gibbs doesn't lose. The few occasions he has lost, he doesn't go back for revenge unless the winner comes back for a rematch or just to gloat. Gibbs figures he's too busy with the regular world to worry too much about the whole Hunters vs. Innocents thing. He has enough wars as it is without adding another one to the list. He would not be a Hunter, and he fights too much for what is right to be an Undecided, so that leaves being and Innocent.

History: Gibbs was the only child of two over-worked parents who never really had much, but gave what little they could to their son and each other. They lived in a small apartment complex in Portland, Maine, a densely populated but decent city. Gilbert worked near the top of a huge office building. Natasha worked in a bustling restaurant. After school every day, Gibbs walked the half mile to his father's work and wandered around the building for several hours before going home with Gilbert. When he was eight, the building caught on fire, trapping Gibbs on the roof. Hence his fear of fire and heights. He was trapped there for two hours, choking on smoke and almost running blindly off the 27-story building. He was saved by a helicopter and flown, half-conscious, to a nearby hospital. On the way, he dreamed, dreamed about a dog as if through a fog. A dog that told him about things called talismans, a town in Canada, Hunters, Innocents, Undecideds, Seekers... It was all so confusing that he blocked it out after he woke up.
The smoke, the doctors had said, had blinded him - but only in color. He was returned to the normal world in a week. Even still, he repeatedly had dreams of seeing a large German Shepherd, sometimes running, sometimes just sitting and watching him. It never spoke again, no matter how hard he tried to make. It just watched him. He never spoke of talismans to anyone. They would've thought him insane, more than likely. Gibbs wasn't bothered again, and he soon became accustomed to the presence of the German Shepherd. He never attempted to change forms until he was fourteen, when he was bored to such an extent while wandering around Gilbert's office that he left, going to the park and trying it out.
It wasn't long after that that the first sign of what were called 'Hunters' came into his life. A group of three, two men and one woman, all between thirty and forty years old and all with bleach blond hair, lured him off his normal path to the office building and cornered him in an alleyway. They calmly, pleasantly tried to convince him to their side. He refused; they left him alone. Gibbs was, a couple weeks later, confronted with a kindly old man who said he was an Innocent. Gibbs once again refused - this time, he ran.
It was two years later that both Gibbs's parents were found dead. Killed by three people - two men and a one woman, all with bleach blonde hair. One of the men were caught two days later, and it was one of the ones that had cornered Gibbs in the alleyway. A confession was made, though the other two were never found. Gibbs went to live with his best friend for two years, then went to the Army. He stayed for eight years, then joined the FMDJ - the Federal Military Department of Justice. This mean that no one could know where he worked. This meant he spent almost all of his time undercover in different countries, carrying out whatever mission he was assigned. Most missions consisted of tracking down and arresting U.S. Military deserters that had left the military and gone into hiding. Might sound simple, but it was far from it. Most of the time it was dangerous, strenuous and complicated work.
At twenty-eight, he found Jada, a producer, actress and director from Maryland. It wasn't long before the two were engaged; and even less time before their child was on the way. Gibbs moved in with Jada and, even though he spent much time away for his job, it was a real relationship. When their daughter, Willow, was born, things simply couldn't have gotten much better. Even though Gibbs wasn't able to spend much time with either of them, things were still good. It wasn't until two years later that Jada was diagnosed with breast cancer and was said to only have three months to live. She didn't even make it that long.
Jada died two weeks after being diagnosed, leaving Gibbs with Willow, an empty house, and a big, untrained puppy that would later become his savior during his job. He left Willow with her grandmother, Jada's mother, and went back to work. He didn't get to visit her often, and could only watch as she grew up without him. She became a rebel, and Gibbs was unable to do anything to stop her. Gibbs was sent on a mission to China, and, to make sure his cover was as secure as possible, he brought Willow along. That trip lasted six months, and then things were back to normal, whether either of them liked it or not.
Gibbs saw the chance for Willow and him to reconnect. A mission had offered itself to him - go undercover, find and subdue a psychotic criminal last seen in the town of Noatak, Canada. After researching the town, Gibbs loaded up Willow, Ava and their things and flew them there. It wasn't until he was halfway there that he remembered that this was the town that the German Shepherd that still slunk around in his dreams had mentioned, three decades ago. This only gave him more conviction to find this man. To go to a place like this, he probably had a talisman. If he had a talisman, he would probably be a Hunter. It may not have been a smart idea to bring Willow with him, but Gibbs believes that since this is the site of some sort of other-worldly war, that other foreigners would be coming to this town to fight it. Two more wouldn't hurt. An undercover agent posing as a cop and his little girl weren't that much of a threat to anybody.
Talisman: Dog - German Shepard
Description: It may seem ironic that a man who is so intertwined with the law and whose closest companion is a dog so similar to himself has the talisman of a sleek, strong canine. But whoever said irony is a bad thing? Gibbs sticks close to those he loves like glue and will attack anyone who tries to harm them. Just like when he's a human, he strikes people as the type of being to not cross. He is a noble, faithful, loyal and protective guard. It's all compacted into one large dog. One you really would not want to have angry at you.
