Appearance:Matthew has raven hair that would bring the midnight sky to shame. His hair is a normal, medium length (for a girl), and curls rather attractively around his jaw line. His eyes are hazel, sometimes appearing blue, sometimes green, but most of the time it's a mixture of both. It may seem unusual (and gay), but he also wears a fair amount of makeup. He thinks it's normal. Matt has a small, triangular nose that goes well with the cute, skeleton-like smile you never see him endorse. His teeth are perfectly straight, thanks to the embarrassing braces he had to wear all throughout high school. He also used to wear really nerdy glasses, but now he's strictly a contacts kind of guy. His complexion is really clear, but not surprisingly was covered with acne when he was younger. Matt's clothes are all dark, helpfully displaying how he feels on the inside. He's got a medium figure, never the skinny, pole-like type but not fat either.
Personality: When you first come upon him, Matt appears sinister and completely occupied mentally. He may come off as rather quiet, which may lead people to believe he's rude and judgmental, but in reality he's just shy. He was always bullied in the past, which forced him to keep his opinions and comments mostly to himself and not speak up as often as he wished. He has tried and tried again to overcome the formed habit of not speaking up, but it's hard for him. What he really needs is someone who he's not afraid to open up around; someone who coaxes it out of him and relieves him of the strain of it. Inside, he's a hopeless romantic, a lover of love, one of those sentimental dreamers. Sadly though, he's usually just stuck watching people from afar, afraid that they'll judge him harshly if he shows his true self, because he's quite self-conscious. Instead of socializing and being in the company of other people, Matt chooses to express himself with his incredible artistic abilities, and it seems to work well for him.

History: As a child, Matthew was bullied constantly. It was an everyday thing for him. He wasn't one of the normal kids who played sports and had friends. He was different: artistic, intelligent, sinister, and rather intense. Not even the weird kids accepted him. He was a loner from the start. And he didn't get any help from his popular, older sister, either. She was actually just as bad as the other kids. Worse, probably. She egged it on and called him names. Not to mention, she could get at him where the others couldn't, home. His parents naturally didn't know about any of this, and therefore favored their daughter greatly.
So by the time he was in his teen years, you could find him locked away in his room, blasting Misfits, painting a disturbing piece of art, and simply enjoying the times of solitude. He acted as if he didn't want anybody, need anybody, and people believed it. But in truth, he did need someone, badly. He needed a relief of some kind, one other than art. He needed something to tell him he was needed in the word. Needed and wanted. And, surprisingly, he did receive just that. Something worth fighting for. He received a dream about the Talismans, the on-going war, Noatak.
And thus, he became an Innocent. After graduating high school, Matt packed away all of his belongings and moved away to Noatak, Canada. Despite his great mind and parents' wishes, he never went to college. Instead, he just bought a cheap place and got a great job at the local comic store.
