Well I certainly need to fix that little problem! Thank you very much for your affiliation with us!
[/center][/blockquote][/blockquote]A memory flashes into your mind like wildfire, it makes you want to run, run as fast as you can… that night, you and the rest of the pack were sleeping so peacefully, but you heard a sound and immediately got up to go and investigate, winding through the seemingly endless trees. At last, thinking it to be nothing more than a creature of the woods, you turned around to return to the pack when suddenly, an unfamiliar scent caught in your nose.
You weren’t sure what it was, but all you knew was that danger was on the horizon, and it was coming fast. All around you, it felt as though it was everywhere at once! You braced yourself, bristling and snarling, snapping out at the invisible foe in the night viciously, your eyes wild as the feeling of dread dropped onto your shoulders. Turning on your haunches, you threw yourself to the woods and ran, ran for all you were worth.
Flying through the trees, you came to a skidding stop, letting out a distressed howl of warning to the rest of your brethren.
Then there was silence except for your warning echoing in the mountains. No one heeded your call. No one was there to hear it.
Your breath caught in your throat as you looked around. Everything, everyone… Gone. Frightened, your breaths came rapidly, keen ears swiveling to and fro, wisps of steam whispering out in front of you in the chill night air. “Calm… calm…” You told yourself over and over. “Calm… calm…”
The sense of terror from the hidden enemy was gone, but a new, unpleasant stench was hanging on the air.
Coppery…
Pungent.
Putrid…
Blood.
A normality, but not when it’s so familiar.
You took a trembling step forward, then another, and finally another until your legs were working mechanically. As you moved, the scent grew stronger and stronger, becoming nearly unbearable. The sight before you made you run, run hard and fast.
“Dead… They’re all dead! Dead!” You repeated, just as you had tried to calm yourself before. The pack had been ruthlessly slaughtered… by who and how, you didn’t know… it was after you… you had to keep going, running, you had to keep running.
By some miracle, your days, weeks, and months of running have brought you to what could only be called a paradise. The mountains stand as guarding sentinels, game ambles about the land, and in the distance… more wolves like yourself have found a new world.
Will you join them?
