Chrissy sat at the far booth in the corner with a mug of hot coffee in her hands. A news paper sat spread out in front of her and her golden hazel eyes scanned the front page. The coffee felt warm on her hands, and the sounds of the diner was actually relaxing. She could read in almost anything though, it was one of her favorite past times. If it wasnt raining out she would have a book in her hands sitting by the lake or in the park. She reached over with a free hand and grabbed the muffin that sat next to her, she slowly brought it to her mouth as she continued reading and took a bite, being careful not to make a mess. Her head bent over the table reading the newspaper, her light brown sun kissed hair fell forward almost hiding her angel like face. Her legs were crossed underneath the table, the top one bouncing with her foot going up and down. She turned her head to the side as her neck grew achy from leaning in that manner. She took a deep sign, just totally content in sipping her coffee, munching on the muffin and reading the newspaper.

Jackson strolled in casually, his necklace hidden underneath his black, long sleeved shirt. He had one hand in his jeans. He went over to order large vanilla frappucino, overloaded with sugar. Jackson leaned on the counter and looked around the diner. It was full enough for the late morning. His wet hair stuck to the back of his neck, and his shirt molded to his body. His eye seemed to linger a bit longer on a girl who seemed to be at peace with the world. How anyone could be happy for very long was beyond him. He grabbed his frap, paid for it, and made his way quietly over to the girl's table. Something about her wasn't normal. His father had taught him how to tell the difference between humans and Innocents. She might have been human, but.... His gut instinct was telling him that she wasn't. Jackson smiled politely at her. "Is this seat taken, or may I sit here?"

Chrissy took a sip of her coffee when a stranger walked over to her booth. She wasnt paying attention, eyes still glued on the paper but she soon noticed a dark shape in the corner of her eye. When she heard a voice to follow she put her mug down and lifted her eyes to the stranger. She gave him a smile, as she always does, and motioned with her hand to sit down. She folded her hands on the table and took one mroe sip of her green tea. He looked around her age and obviously had Native American in his blood. So, may I ask why the impulse to sit with me? She gave him a kind smile and pulled a strand of hair back behind her ears with her right hand. She wandered why he wanted to sit down. Maybe he was lonely, maybe he was going to hit on her. She didnt know but she was always willing to meet someone new. Her golden eyes flashed at him across the table. Would you like anything?

Jackson sat down and sniffed his frappucino. The scent alone was giving him the beginning of a buzz. He brushed some of his wet hair to the side of his face. "No reason, really," Jackson laughed. He wanted to keep the conversation away from himself as much as possible. And the reason he was here. "Me? I'm fine. I don't need anything from you." He wondered if she was one of those girls, the ones that thought they were so pretty that every guy they met obviously wanted to hit on them. He hated people that were full of themselves. His eyes got a feral glare for a few milliseconds. "Do I look like I need anything?" His voice was a little tense at the end, but then he laughed. "Sorry, once I finish this frap, I'm sure I'll be back to normal." And then I'll be able to tell what kind of person you are, he added silently.

Chrissy smiled and threw her hands up a bit, as if to say your loss, i was offering to get you something. But at him comment she paused in her friendly smile. odd she thought to herself. She pushed the paper out of the way, folding it so she could pile it under her purse. Im Chrissy. Nice to meet you. she said, holding out her small hand to shake his. Her pearly teeth flashed in the diners light, her hair bouncing around her shoulders. She tilted her head to the side, as if to look him over, but it was just a thing she she has done since she was a little girl. She tilted her head to the side often, it wanst her judging people as most people took it for.

Jackson contemplated telling her his real name in case she was an Innocent. In the end, he decided it didn't matter much because even if she was, she didn't stand a chance against a Hunter. Jackson shook her hand firmly. He wondered why she had her head tilted like that. He wondered if he could see the scar on the side of his jaw when her head was like that. He kept quiet for a few more seconds. "Nice to meet you too, Chrissy." Finally, he decided he had nothing to lose from telling her his name. "I'm Jackson." He picked up his frap and started drinking a little of it.

When he didnt take her hand she just let it drop to the table top. She took a deep breath and turned her head to look out the window. She got a weird feeling from Jackson, and she rarely got weird feelings about people. She was so friendly it normally never mattered if they were odd or not, she usually got along with everyone. She took a sip of her tea, finishing it off and taking the last bite of her muffin before putting her mug on the small plate. She crossed her hands on the table in front of her again and gave him a smile. She didnt want to be rude, but she thought it was best if she left. The odd feeling she got gave her the goose bumps and she just wanted to go home. She grabbed her umbrella and placed it on her lap, as subtle hint that she would like to get going.

She smiled again and put her umbrella in her lap. Jackson smiled back. Looks like I was right, he thought to himself. She feels uncomfortable. It's probably her animal responding to mine... He scanned his brain quickly for an idea. She had to be an Innocent. He couldn't let her slip away. "Uh, do you mind if I leave with you? I don't have an umbrella, and I'd hate to catch a cold." He finished his coffee in one massive gulp. "How about it," he added with an anything but suspicious smile. "Chrissy?" He gave her innocent wide eyes and brushed back his wet hair for emphasis. He was right on that, her doe talisman was practically design to be alert for danger and it was responding. He was too charming, too nice. She smiled and slowly nodded. When she was out of the diner she would make a break for it when she had the best opportunity. She stood and gathered her things, leaving the money next to the dishes. She turned around to make sure she didnt miss anything and started to head for the door. She took a deep quiet breath, her nerves were on edge and everything told her to book it, but she didnt want other people get mixed up in this and getting hurt.

Jackson got up and walked before her to the door. He held it open so she could walk outside with the umbrella first. He planned on changing the first second he got. Hopefully she was something easy to hunt. His teeth bared in a feral grin as he saw he coming to leave. This is just too easy,he thought. He began doubting himself. Would he be able to... hunt her? Like a real Hunter? Or was he too soft hearted?

Chrissy's mind was turning and spinning trying to figure out what to do and when to do it. If she could turn, she could easily out run him with her long deer legs. But she wasnt sure if she wanted to phase in front of other people. Maybe she could go the opposite way towards the park and the outskirts of town. She smiled as he held the door open and she gracfully walked through. What would a Hunter what with me? i don't have a useful talisman, just a harmless doe. She thought in her head. She walked past him and opened the umbrella turning to him. Which way do you have to go? She asked, she hoped he say somewhere when she could pretend to go the other way. Tough luck right?

Jackson kept smiling, but now it had changed a little. He moved over to Chrissy swiftly and put his hand on his waist. "Don't even think about running," he said softly. "You know what I am, I know what you are, let's just cut the crap. Okay? We are going to the park, then you can change into your animal, I'll change into mine and... we'll see what happens from there." His plan was to let her change, then he would hunt her. If he had had his cellphone on him, he would have told his father he found an Innocent in case she was fast enough to get away from him. And even while he was thinking about hunting her, the main thought in his mind was... Thank goodness she had an umbrella. I was getting soaked!

Chrissy jumped when she felt his hand suddenly on her waist, the grip he gave her to prove a point of not running away caused Chrissy to glare at Jackson. Why would you want me? I know the Hunters go after talismans of use, what use does a doe have for them? Hmm? Let me go. She glared at him, golden eyes gleaming. She looked at the sky for a moment, then flicking her attention back to Jackson. She decided to go for it, or try to anyways. She shoved him out from under her umbrella, threw the umbrella at him to get his attention away form her at least for a half second, turned, and booked it down the street. She left all of her possessions behind, purse, umbrella, house keys. The only thing she had with her was her cell phone. But everything was moving too fast to use it. She ran as fast as she could, little legs pumping her as hard as possible. Thank god she was little and made for speed. She wiped around a corner and ducked behind a large street garbage disposal, the ones the size of cars. She knew she had to phase, although she didnt know what he was, knowing that would help to know where she had an advantage, doe or human? She waited breathing hard hoping, praying that Jackson ran right by the alley way where she was hiding. She tried to calm her breathing as much as possible.

Jackson laughed in amusement as he easily dodged the umbrella. He picked up the items she had dropped in her eagerness to run away and shook his head. He threw his head back and sniffed deeply. He could follow her scent, even in the rain. Looks like his father's training was paying off. He walked quickly, not wanting to draw attention, but not wanting her to get away. As he reached an alley, her scent got stronger. He decided to put on a little show. "Damn!" He yelled, seemingly angry. "Where did she go?" Then he ran into the alley and right up to her. He was pretty fast too. "He grabbed her arm. "I told you not to try anything funny!" he growled. "Now here's your crap." He shoved her belongings at her. "Like I said before, we're going to the park. Now let's go."

Chrissy was socking wet, sitting against the all behind the dumpster. When she heard Jackson somehow she knew it was an act, and when he ran up to her, popping out from around the dumpsters corner she jumped and glared at him again. So whatever he is has a good sense of smell. She thought to herself. She twisted her arm left and right trying to break free but he was stronger then she was. She figured the only chance she had was to somehow catch him off guard, throw a quick punch and dart off as a deer. At least he doesnt know Im a deer yet. Deer are fast, they can outrun many animals. She hurried thoughts into her head to sound more positive then they were. She let him tug her alone to the park, after all she could run better on grass. When she got to the park, she turned and looked at him. You know, you dont have to do this. Really, why are you doing this? Whats in it for you? She asked trying to keep his mind busy, looking for her break.
