Here is where you can find a bunch of words and terms that will help you along on this site. If you have any questions, please PM a staff member
Elders - This is the collective name by which the leaders of the Hunters and Innocents are known. Elders are chosen mainly by bloodlines, but one may still become an Elder if there wasn't an Elder somewhere in his/her ancestry. If you're interested in applying a character as an Elder, go here.
Current Innocent Elder(s): Gibbs Rane
Current Hunter Elder(s): Skar
First Talisman - A man, name unknown, that was given a bear talisman from the spirits of the Native Americans. But with his new power he grew greedy and began destroying the land. The Native Americans gave more people talismans hoping their good hearts would conquer his tainted soul.
Hunters - The Hunters live up to their name: they hunt. Their prey: the Innocents. Their Elders strive for power.
Innocents - They fight the Hunters and want to bring them down, or if they don't physically fight them, they strongly oppose what the Hunters do.
Noatak - The town in western Canada where this story takes place. It has an unusually high concentration of shifters. The weather is warm in the summer yet frigid in the winter. It is relatively small, with the town spreading out into the wilderness. It is very open here and great for outdoor activities.
Population: 11,000
Talisman Population: Approx. 4% of the general population (440 talismans)
Seekers - These are people that do not know what their talisman is, or they do not have one at all. Some people are late bloomers, and some never find their talisman and remain regular people until they die.
Talisman/Spirit - First appears in one's dreams as a guide. When it believes one is mature enough, it teaches him/her to transform into animal form. While human, one can still feel it or hear it and even perhaps use some of its acute senses.
Undecideds - These are people that know their talisman but have yet to choose or be persuaded to either join the Innocents or the Hunters. These people could be of great use to either side, and are prone to be tracked down by both and recruited.
Neutrals - Those who know they will remain in between the battles, with no intentions of ever being pursuaded or intimidated into service of either one. They can usually fend for themselves very well.
