Lexie pulled the black Sedan up the driveway leading to the aparment buildings. Her three year old daughter, Kate was asleep in the back seat. Lexie let out a tired sigh as she parked the car and turned off the engine. "Home sweet home."she muttered to herself, careful not to be too loud as to wake the sleeping girl.
After a few moments Lexie got out of teh car and glanced around. It was early afternoon, but she was very tired after her long almost non-stop driving all the way from Florida. She ran a hand through her hair and opened the back door, carefully lifting Kate out of her seat and holding her close. "Let's hope your dady won't find us here, huh?" she whispered as she shut the door and opened the trunk. While holding the sleeping girl to her shoulder she grabbed the duffle bag of their clothes and managed to shut the trunk.
Lexie carried Kate and the bag inside and into the elevator, heading to the 6th floor.....

Caleb yawned and scratched the back of his head as he waited for the elevator to arrive. It was early afternoon, yet he was already quite tired. His talisman nudged him, telling him he can take a nap when he got into his apartment. He couldn't disagree to that.
The boy had been spending his last week or so looking for Reyes after that night he met Aras and Ofelia. If Reyes was in Noatak, somebody had to have seen him around. The town was way too small to stay hidden for long. It would've been so much better if he knew good English though, but half the people he tried to speak with just gave him confused looks when he tried to talk.
There was a beeping sound before the elevator doors creaked open. Caleb was about to go in when he paused mid-step. There was a woman already there, holding a small sleeping child on her hip and a bag on her other shoulder. There was a moment's hesitation before he decided it would be okay to use the same elevator, and stepped in. Pressing the button to his floor, he put his hands behind his back and stared blankly at the mirror on one of the walls, waiting for the metal box to stop.

Lexie moved to the side to make more room for the guy. She bit her lip as she tried to adjust the heavey bag on her shoulder and not wake kate while doing so. "What floor are you on?" she asked the boy. Trying to fill the silence in the air. Lexie wondered how old he was, he didn't seem too far from her own age of 23. Maybe she could make a friend in the building already. Lexie hated not knowing anyone here. But then again maybe not knowing anyone would keep Kyle Dalton away longer.

When the woman suddenly asked what floor he was on, he glanced at her, slightly confused. He had just pressed the button. He saw that she was on the sixth floor, so he pointed to the button that he just pushed and took a few seconds to count through the numbers in his head before he said; "Twelve." Note to self: learn his numbers in English better.
There was another lull of silence as he stood there quietly. The elevator music was next to silent, but since there was no talking going on, he tried to listen in to it. It was in English, and he figured he wouldn't be able to recognize it anyways. He wanted the elevator to hurry up so he could get out of this awkward silence, but the building's lift had always been a bit slow.
Caleb took another glance at the woman and her child. The kid was a little girl, and she was pretty cute. He liked kids, but not all of them since most of them are really loud or obnoxious. The children back in Japan were more respectful towards the adults, more quiet and composed. The silence was growing very tense, and he wanted out as quickly as possible. It showed as he shifted from one leg to another.

"Cool. I'm on six... Just moving in." she said then fell silent again. She listened for a few moments to the soft music. Then she tried to listen for the mechanics of the elevatore itself. She sighed and kissed Kate's head then lowered her gaze to the floor. She took a deep breath then looked back to the guy. Japanese? He looks Japanese... she thought to herself. Or so she thought for in that moment her talisman filtered into her thoughts. Talk to him the talisman urged... Lexie noted his nervous movements. She smiled slightly as she leaned against the wall a bit for more support with her heavy load. "You know, If you don't think about it so much the tense silence doesn't seem so imposing." she offered light heartedly.

"Cool. I'm on six... Just moving in."
Six. It took a minute for him to count up and realize that six was, indeed, roku. More silence followed, and he really wanted to get out of this little metal box right now. The mirrors reflected him on all sides, and he looked at his own reflection for a few seconds. He didn't like how he looked right now, but he'd fix it later.
"You know, If you don't think about it so much the tense silence doesn't seem so imposing."
"Huh?" He looked up, confused. Okay, he didn't really understand that. She said it way too quickly for his bare minimum English ability. Her tone told him that it was nothing he needed to be worried about though, so he didn't panic. His talisman nudged him again quietly, wordlessly. She had a kid on her arm and she was weighed down by a heavy looking bag; she couldn't be too dangerous, right?
At last, there was a slight 'ding' noise as the elevator stopped on the sixth floor and the doors slid open. Caleb stepped aside to let the woman through, careful not to bump into her or her bag.
