It was a Friday evening where the air was cool and the skies where clouded, a nice evening for a stroll or going out with that special someone. Ezekiel Irving had just the thought when he invited one of the most special lady of his life to spend some time with him on that very evening. Ezekiel was seated on a table in the Nine Muses Cafe, across him a beautiful lady by the name of Jessica sat. He smiled at her, it was one of the few times that he could take out his mother like this. Usually they would be busy doing their own things, but that night Ezekiel wanted them to relax together. They had been talking for a while now, nothing too serious and mostly inane topics while sipping some of their coffee. It was relaxing to them both, it had been a while since they had unwind.
Aside from the chatters of the other patrons of the cafe, there was nothing going on at the moment. With a quick, “I”ll be right back,” Ezekiel excused himself from the table and went off towards an area not far from it. There was a bit of clearing and in it there were a few musical instruments and also some microphones. Ezekiel smiled, he had been wanting to do for a while now ever since he learned that this cafe had such a thing. He sat on a chair that was provided there, a microphone stood in front of it. He had taken an acoustic guitar from its stand and placed it on his lap. He gave it a few experimental pluck before addressing the patrons of the cafe.
“Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I'm Ezekiel and I will be performing a song for you,” spoke the teenager before he smiled at crowd. There were a few polite claps but nothing more, Ezekiel did not mind though and began to pluck the instrument of his choice. A soft melody began to reverberate through the cafe, it was soft and melancholic. It was a song that he had written himself during his spare time. “This one is dedicated to a very special lady by the name of Jessica, she is the guiding light in my life,” and with that, Ezekiel began to sing. He had a rather deep voice when singing though he sang quite well.
“There something that I've wanted to tell you, something that I'm keeping to myself, and dusk begins to settle just outside, maybe now is the time..."
There were polite claps when he finished. After placing the guitar back at its own place, Ezekiel made his way back towards his table and began chatting again with his mother. She was touched by what he did and could not help but smile the rest of the evening. For a while now they chatted but for Jessica it was time to head back home. Ezekiel meanwhile decided to stay a bit longer. After saying their goodbyes, both mother and son parted way. Ezekiel sat alone at his table, nursing a cup of hot coffee, a small smile graced his lips.

It was a Friday, and Reyes loved Fridays for probably one reason only. That one reason was that every Friday, he was invited to play his music at The Nine Muses Cafe. He was a local musician, and one of the only musicians who actually played at nearly every establishment that required live music in the little town. The pay was good, and he did what he loved, so the Japanese man had no complaints. So, as usual, he was invited to The Nine Muses Cafe that night to play his tenor saxophone and guitar, and maybe practice his gravikord.
When he arrived, there was already somebody else on the small stage, probably a voluntary guitarist. The people who recognized him called his name, patted his back, whatever. Reyes was a regular musician here, and a long time local of the small town. It was a given that a lot of people had seen him before somewhere. He sat down at the coffee counter and listened as the young man said that the song was going out to a lady named Jessica. Hm, it seemed that everybody had somebody special these days.
Reyes ordered a mug of coffee and sipped it at the counter as he listened to the boy's song. It was nice, a soft tone. He made small talk with the barista as it went along, but the boy's song ended and there was a round of polite clapping. Now the regular patrons of the cafe turned their heads towards Reyes, expecting him to get on up there and entertain them with his usual antics and frolics and music.
The Japanese man had brought his own guitar, tenor saxophone and gravikord because he didn't like the Cafe's instruments, and they didn't have a gravikord anyways. He hauled his three instruments onto the stage and smiled at the crowd. Ah, so today was going to be a good day.
"O, speak again, bright angel! For thou art as glorious to this night, being o'er my head, as is a winged messenger of heaven!" The patrons of the cafe laughed, knowing he was directing his comment at the man who just came off the stage. Reyes was fluent in Elizabethan, which made for some pretty fun times in the past. "He speaks yet he says nothing; what of that? What man is that, which doth enrich the hand of yonder lady?"
