Ryan stood at the bar, with one arm leaning against it, chocolate eyes scanning the room for someone worth talking to. He spots a few girls that are attractive and he watches them for a bit. he rolls his eyes for they seem to be total blonde's, ditzes and that just irritates the hell out of him. He takes a sip of his drink, feeling the warmth of the liquor flow down his throat. He raises one side of his mouth in a little side smile at another girl, but she looks away embarrassed. Nope, not her either, too shy, cant take a compliment. Ryan likes a feisty woman, one who could hold her own with him, one not shy to speak up. he keeps looking around for that woman, listening to the music, watching the girls dance and drinking his rum and coke.

Kali stood behind the bar, watching everybody. She wore a pretty black dress, as all the employees had to wear something nice. Her normal jeans and plain shirt aparently didn't qualify for that. She heaved a great sigh of boredom. Everyone had already been served their drinks, and now they were all out on the dance floor with the flashing lights. "Heheha, Kali, you should take a break." said one of the men who worked the same shift that she did.
"I couldn't leave you here alone though, Rick." she said. But he shook his head.
"I can take it from here, you go on and have fun."
"No, Rick, I really can't leave you here. What if the motorcycle gang comes, and they all want a beer? You can't handle them by yourself." Then she smiled. "What if they're hungry?" she teased him. "They'd eat you!" Rick was a very skinny man, and Kali always thought that he would break if he even held a simple log of firewood.
Rick laughed. "They wouldn't eat me."

Ryan downed the last of his drink and turned back to the bar, he saw the girl behind the bare and eyed her up and down. Not bad... He thought to himself. Her black dress was nice, could be a little more revealing for Ryan's taste. He waited for her to see him so he could flag her down for another drink. When she didnt look right away he yelled out, Hey could I have another rum and coke? He tapped the counter with his fingers waiting for her too notice him so he could start a conversation with her.

"Sure thing, just a sec." she said back to the man. "See, you do need my help." she teased her crewmate and bent down to get a bottle of coke and a bottle of rum. She poured first the rum into his glass carefully, and then the coke. She placed both back under the counter and grabbed a clean stir-stick and placed it in his drink, swirled it a few times, and handed him his glass back. "Here you are." she said, tossing the stick away. "Is there anything else that I can do for you?"
In the backgroung, Rick laughed at her. "I could have gotten him the rum and coke!" he chuckled, but she ignored him.

Ryan took the glass noticing that she was fully into her job and not looking for anything else, well thats ok, more of a challenge for me he thought with a smirk on his face. I'm good as can be. Busy night? he asked looking at her 100% interested in her, he shit out everything in the club but the girl in the little black dress. He darkened his eyes a bit, more mysterious and seductive. He smiled his charming smile at her, hoping he could break down the wall a bit. Whats your name? he asked her nicely.

"No." she admitted sadly, sighing. "There's a lot of people here, but they've already been served." When Kali turned her head back to look at him, his expression was completely different. Whoa... she thought to herself. She hadn't been looking for guys, but he was kinda cute. His eyes were soft, and his smile was brilliantly warm and kind. It made her fell just a tad bit uneasy inside. No one had ever looked at her like that before. But the feeling left as she smiled back at him. "My name's Kali." she said confidently, and extended her hand to shake his. "What's yours?"

He smiled back at her, finally a girl that is not gonna cower behind something, a girl with attitude. He reached out his large calloused hand and took in her small soft hand. My name's Ryan. Nice to Meet you Kali. Unique name, that short for something? He asked curious. He took a sip of his drink, he wasnt feeling a buzz yet but knew at the end of the drink he would. This girl was cute and looked honest, Ryan usually felt himself attracted to the...more revealing type. But maybe he should make a change, go for a good girl instead of a naughty one that wasn't loyal. He glanced around the room even though he wasnt looking at anything else, he just knew from experience that too much eye contact would make someone feel overly awkward.

His hand shake was strong, only stronger than hers by a slight bit though. Not much. "It's nice to meet you too. And nope, it's just Kali." she said. He seemed like a nice man to her. He hadn't over-drank himself with the rum, and that was a good quality to have -to know how much you can drink without getting drunk. It was a quality that unfortunately, very few had anymore. Kali looked around the room, and her observation was verified. Many men and women were already drunk on the dance floor or at tables, giggling the night away. "You come here often?" she asked him. "I haven't seen you here before."

He gave her a small quick smile and released her hand. I've been her one other time, but now it looks like im gonna be around more often, business of course. He added quickly. What about you, how long have you been working here? Looks like a tough job, dealing with drunken men hitting on you all the time. he said with a little chuckle. The more he talked to her the more he liked her, this wasnt usually him, he never really ended up liking a girl this quick, and if he did it was a different feeling. He has never felt this before and he didnt know what it was. Calm down he told himself, its just a girl.

She laughed merrily. "I've been here about two months." she had been working here for a while before she got the job at Uncle Sam's. "And yeah, it gets kinda tough with all the drunks, but you just learn to ignore their comments." she shrugged. "But they do make a few good jokes now and then." said the girl, smiling. "Sometimes they even fall over on the dance floor. That always makes a good laugh." Kali looked at him again. "What sort of business do you do?" she inquired. So far, she aproved of him. He didn't quite seem like all of the other jerks who entered the club. In fact, he didn't seem like a jerk at all. Kali didn't come across that much in Oceana.

Ryan smiled but did a mental pause when she asked what type of work he was into, he had no idea what to say. its real boring stuff, real estate and whatnot. Its what my parents did and you know, it just kinda stuck with me. I used to want to be a cowboy. He laughed thinking of his childish games. He looked into her eyes and held his gaze for a minute, seeing how she would react to such eye contact. He had been here for a little bit but had yet to go out, and tonight was his real first time to go out. Lucky for him he found a nice girl that was making an impression on him.

"A cowboy?" she smiled. "That would be awesome." He had an imagination, too. This was interesting her. When she looked at him, her blue eyes flickered downward for only a moment -no, half a moment -and then she held his gaze too. His eyes were a handsome color of brown, and slowly, a smile spread across her face. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked, a little bit of a laugh within her words. Kali did not look away from him. This was strange... no, not strange. Just different. Ryan was different from the other men in the bar. The other men would have just been kicking up a storm of inappropriate pick up lines and comments and jokes and gestures. But this guy was polite to her, in their short minutes of meeting.

Ryan let a smile slowly spread across his face, and left one corner of his mouth a little higher then the other in a kind of secret smirk, a cute smirk. I was just admiring, you have the prettiest darn eyes. Unique contrast, the blue eyes and dark hair. he paused for only half a second...Are you single? Oh, look im sorry. That was a bit out of place, too forward. Just scratch that. Sooo....what do you like to do for fun? he smiled but this time it was a little awkward, he felt embarrassed and that was a new thing for him. His cheeks started to turn the lightest bit of red. He averted his eyes from hers, not knowing what to do.

Her smile only grew as he compliemented her, and that smile... was that a smirk she saw? What was he smirking about? She laughed. "Thank you." she said. Kali half-jumped when he asked her if she was single. No one had ever asked her that before. In the background, Rick laughed at her. "Oh hush." she said to the laughing man. "Go check the kitchen and make sure the chicken isn't burning." he only laughed harder and left for the stove. Kali smiled awkwardly as she turned back to Ryan. "Yes... I'm single." she answered the question that had suddenly made him so bashful. She thought it was rather charming, his face growing that slightest shade of red. "It's alright." she told him, chuckling. "I like music." she told him. "And I like the outdoors. I love the night, too. That's one of the reasons I got this job, so that I could look at the stars on my walk home." then she grinned mischievously. "And when I was younger I used to pick on the bullies. That was always fun, and I'll still do it, too." she admitted.

Ryan gave a quick hoot of laughter, YOU? Pick on the bullies? No way, a sweet cute girl like you? Well, we have some things on common then, I like music, I like the night too mostly because of my talisman though, he likes the night. And believe it or not, I used to be a bully. Could you tell? He laughed a bit gently. But then took a total turn in the direction. When do you get off work? He smiled hoping he didnt go too far, but he would like to take her somewhere, to get to know her better. He usually would charm them into a bed, but not this one. This one felt different from the others. he wanted to take this one slower.
