"Yes, I pick on bullies." she said, folding her arms, but she couldn't keep the smile off her face. "And I might just have to pick on you if you're not careful." Kali teased him. It was only a childish threat, nothing serious. Then she pondered for a moment or two. "Tonight, I get off work at... midnight tonight." she answered.
"But I have to stay all by myself 'till two o'clock." Rick complained, coming back into the bar. "And the chicken isn't burning."
"Were you eavsdropping?" Kali asked him, false anger in her voice.
"Maybe..." said Rick, slyly.
"Alright." she said, suddenly just fine with it. "But I'll remember it, Rick, don't you forget." Kali warned him, and then turned back to Ryan. That was the nice thing about working at a night club. You didn't have to be formal, and the envirenment was always warm, if the right people were around. "Why do you ask?" she asked the man with the chocolate eyes, just as slyly as Rick had just been speaking to her. A smile was on her face. She kinda liked this boy.

Ryan watched them interact and he smiled even though he didnt know the other man. He thought it was cute how she could joke around with them. Because I want to take you somewhere, and yes at midnight. He said at her curious facial expression. He took a few more sips of his drink, thinking it was still only his second. He could easily have one more drink and barely notice it, but he didnt feel the need to drink around Kali. I just hope you like to walk. He said slyly, imitating her previous tone of voice. His plane was to take her on a nice walk through the pine forest, it was beautiful at night and the stars there were bright.

"Oh," she said, the slyness still in her voice. She liked this game, being sly. She found it amusing, and her smile could not be swept off her face even if a hurricane hit. "And where might that be?" she asked. "Do you like me that much that you want to wait 'till midnight for me to get off work, Ryan?" Kali grinned. She had actually lost track of the time, and little did she know that it was really eleven-fourty right now. She could leave in twenty minutes. The girl looked up at him, that cute little secretive smile on her lips as she waited for his answer.

Absolutely, do you trust me to go somewhere with me? he asked, he hoped it was yes but they did only know each other for maybe an hour. He tilted the last bit of his drink into his mouth and swallowed, placing the empty glass on the bar counter. Now he was growing more curious, So, what do you look for in a guy? He put that cute little smirk back on his face, toying with her playfully. He gave her a small wink but then noticed another girl sitting at the bar, she was starring at him and licking her lips. uh oh, I think you got competition. The girl was giving him very strong signals, and she was very curving and had a low cut shirt revealing, well, a lot.

"No, I don't trust you." said Kali. "But you seem nice enough, and I could fight you if had to." she teased. She looked at the other girl and laughed. This wasn't competition in the least. "Can I help you, Ma'am?" Kali asked.
"Yeah, you can get me a Corona, and piece of that." said the woman, pointing to Ryan.
"Well, here's your beer." she said, grabbing a yellow bottle from behind the bar. "And I'm really sorry, but we have an age limit on him. You have to be under fourty." her eyebrows furrowed as if she really was sorry about it and serious, but she had to stifle a laugh.

Ryan laughed at her joke and smiled at the women, he shrugged his shoulders at her and mouthed the word sorry. Ryan lifted his arm and glanced at his watch, 5 minutes, if you don't mine, I'm gonna wait outside for you, i need to get some fresh air. That ok? He looked at her and smiled his sweet smile again, from years of being a player, had the charm thing down really good. He ran his hair through his messy brown hair and straightened his shirt a little before looking back at Kali, a little embarrassed that she saw him fix his shirt. What, I like to look good. He said laughing a bit.

"Yeah, I'll meet you out there." Kali said, beginning to clean up the bar a little bit. She smiled back at him and watched him go out the door.
"Somebody's awful talkative tonight." sneered Rick, helping her pick up a bit by placing some of the coke and rum bottles back in the cooler, and wiping the bar down with a towel because of the many people who decided not to use coasters.
"He spoke to me first." Kali defended herself, taking Ryan's glass back to the kitchens and washing it beneath the warm sink water.
"And you answered first." Rick spoke back to her.
"And you eavsdropped." she said, giving him a warning glance that would have been complete if only she wouldn't have smiled at him when she furrowed her eyebrows.
"That's me!" said Rick, taking the small glass from her hands. "Why don't you go for a walk?" he teased.
"Thanks, Rick." she said, stepping outside into the night to meet Ryan.

Ryan was leaning against the wall when she walked out. The moon was shinning bright tonight and gave her a glow. Its a nice night out, full moon too. He said. He then cocked his head quickly to the side as if to motion for her to follow him in that direction. He led her away from the bar, down the streets until the houses and buildings slowly started to thin.
So, how are I'm doing so far? good or bad impression? he asked her in a bit of a teasing tone of voice although he was serious. He looked around, seeing the trees becoming more populated and there were less and less people and houses. There was a slight breeze that made the already chilling fall night even cooler. He casually watched to see if Kali shivered at all, preparing to offer her his coat, which would practically go down to her knees.

"A good impression." she answered. Kali watched the houses as they walked by them, and then looked up at the moon. It really was a lovely night. The girl closed her pretty blue eyes as the breeze came, enjoying the feeling of it running over her face and through her hair. It was a cool wind, and she did shiver slightly. But not that badly. "How 'bout myself?" Kali asked him, looking up into his handsome eyes. "Am I making a good impression?" she asked in the same tone of voice that he held. She had never really been with any man before. She had never had a boyfriend, and she had never been alone with a stranger, save for the first few days with Rick when he helped her clean up the bar. But that was it.

Ryan smiled, You couldn't have impressed me more. he wondered if he should be honest with her, about what he was usually like, then he decided that he would. You know, I've always been the um, player type guy. he paused because he really did like this girl and didnt want her to run off thinking all he wanted from her was sex. But I find myself tonight with you, totally different. I've never taken a girl on a romantic walk before, unless it was to their bedroom. He started to blush slightly and looked down at his feet. Well, this it is, off she goes. He thought to himself. If she did run off, this experience had made him think better of the way he had treated her, and he would try to treat other girls like that. He had had enough fooling around and now all he wanted was a nice stable relationship.

"Oh." was all she said, thinking about it for a bit. He had seemed nice enough to her, she found it hard to believe that he was really like that on the inside. Kali looked at him again. He looked a little ashamed of it, the girl thought. And he didn't really have to tell her that, but for some reason he had decided to. He did have good in him. And if that's what he had wanted from her, he wouldn't have told her that. So maybe he had changed from whatever he was before. But still, Kali had to assure him, "You won't be taking that walk with me, be sure of that." her voice held a bit of sterness, but then she softend. "But this walk is nice, I like it." she nodded to the path that they were walking on, towards the trees. "What made you think to take me here?" she asked, trying to start a conversation and get away from their previous topic.

Ryan felt better and more assured and when she said that he wouldnt be taking that walk with her, he laughed loudly, it echoing in the approaching trees. You said you like to look at the stars when you get out of work, and there is no better place where the stars are as bright as the pine forest. He reached his hand out, taking hers inside of his calloused big warm hand, slowing her to a stop, Look up. Was all he said. The stars shown brightly and perfect between the leaves of the trees. See the big dipper? And O'ryans belt? When I was little i used to think they named it after me. Silly huh?

When he took her hand, Kali wondered if she should smile or pull away. No one had ever held her hand before. But he was acting sweetly, and didn't seem like he was trying to pull anything, so she let a her teeth show happily. Kali made sure to at least be somewhat cautious around him after he had told her about his past. What was she kidding? She could take him in a fight if she had to, though she was sure that he wouldn't raise a hand to her. He seemed nicer than that now. And that was the nice thing about the past. It really was just past, and you could put it behind you. She looked down at his hand before looking up at the stars. "That is silly." she said, still smiling. Then Kali sighed. "The stars are so beautiful, aren't they? I always wondered why they're there. Their purpose, you know? I think that their purpose is just to bring happiness to people." It was true. The saddest man on earth could look up at the stars and be at peace. They were the most simple and yet the most complex thing in the world. Well, perhaps not even in the world...

Ryan smiled, still holding her hand. They are beautiful. I've never thought about their purpose before. But I guess everything has some sort of purpose in life. He turned his head to look down on her, since he was close to 6ft, Are you cold? You look a little cold. Here, take this. He slipped his arms out of his jacket and before she could really say anything, swung it over her small shoulder. The jacket seemed to engulf her, but it was warm from his body heat. He smiled at her, eyes shinning in the moonlight. He coulnd't help but wonder if she had ever been with anyone before, and then his mind started to wonder, what she kissed like, how soft her lips were until he started thinking other stuff. He shook his head, he wasnt like that anymore, there was more to a girl than her..body.

Kali smiled as she felt the heat of the jacket around her. "Thank you." she said. If she had had a chance to respond, Kali would have refused the coat. But to refuse it now would be to risk making him feel bad and awkward. "What about yourself? Won't you be cold?" she asked, looking up at him. He really was quite some inches taller than her. She wondered if he played basketball or something, maybe football or soccer. The coat smelled deeply of the cologne that he was wearing. Kali liked its scent. It reminded her of the forest that they were in.
