"We've only just met." Kali said. "I'm sorry, but I don't want to kiss on the first date." Her face went a little pink. Did she really consider this a date? He had merely asked to to walk with him. Maybe he didn't think it was a date, but the words had already left her mouth. And not to mention, she was still being cautious. He could have poison on his lips that could kill her of knock her out. She had heard of such things being done. She hoped that he would understand why she didn't kiss him. "I'm sorry." she said again, because she truely was. Kali didn't want to push him away, and she didn't want him to feel as if she was.

Ryan nodded, he understood. That's alright. But he didnt say anything more, for fear of making her uncomfortable again, and also for his being uncomfortable. He sat there in silence looking out over the field, admiring the moonlight on the pale grass and the shadows the were cast from the swaying trees. He heard the wolves again in the distance and smiled for they made him feel more relaxed. He leaned back on his hands with his legs stretched out in front of him, he let his head fall back so he was looking directly up at the stars.

Kali didn't want him to feel uncomfortable the way he did. She thought for a few moments, looking off into the trees, before deciding. The woman reached for his hand quietly and took it in hers, but did not make eye contact with him. Each time she held his hand so far, this being the third time, it was different. The first time, he had taken her hand. The second time, he had offered his hand to her, and she had excepted. But now, she was taking his hand. "What do the Hunters do?" she asked, leaving the question vague enough for him to give her as many details as he could. She would ask narrower questions later.

Ryan smiled when he felt her hand around his pulling it toward her, but he didnt look at her or their hands for fear she would either pull back or it wasnt happening. But a shock came when she asked the question, he cringed a little. Honestly I don't know. I'm not allowed down there. All I do know is they have to be forced to do it because you can hear their screams when they refuse and are tortured. It's not pretty and I would do anything to keep you away from that, no one, good or evil should have to listen to that. When they come out, they look almost normal, but their skin is really pale. He cringed a little again. The though of it made him sick. Maybe I should pretend to finally want to be a hunter and maybe they will let me down there, that way i could tell you so you could help defend yourself against it. he left the offer hang, not knowing if Kali had been one to fight them.

"That would be sweet of you." Kali said. "But I don't want you to get hurt, either, and I don't want you to have to torture people." she told him. But perhaps, if they could have somebody on the inside, things would be a little easier. "Could you sneak down there?" she asked. "That way, you could tell me what's going on, without getting hurt yourself or having to hurt someone else." Then, once he told her something, Kali and Joy and the other girl, (if they wanted to come with her), could spy through the window and see if what he said was true. If it was, then Kali could trust him like she wanted to. "How do you capture the Innocents?" she asked him.

Ryan thought about it for a second, he knew he had to stay at the mansion although he didnt want to, but he had dealt with it for 24yrs, whats anything more? Yeah, I could do that, to help you. he stressed the part about helping her. I don't mean to sound corney at all, but I would do anything if it would help you to trust me. He looked down at his shoes, still hoping he could have a kiss, he cant fix his player ways in just one night after all. he tried to shake it from his head but the thought of a kiss remained, he just hid it from kali, knowing it would not be a good idea to bring it up again.
He looked up at the sky, and then wondered how long they have been here. He glanced down at his watch, Wow, its 2am, I should get you home. Come on. he stood up and reach out his hand to help pull her up from sitting to standing.

"Okay, thanks." said Kali. She couldn't believe that it had already been two hours. Time had gone by fast. She accepted his hand for once, and smiled as she looked up at him. Then she let go of his hand and hopped down the rock. When she got to the bottom she turned to wait for him to get down, too. She knelt down to pick up her shoes before standing again. She didn't want to put her shoes on, and didn't mind running around barefoot. Her 'nice' shoes were a bit uncomfortable. "Now you're really taller than me." she said, smiling.

Ryan jumped down and smiled at her comment. He was a lot taller, but he didnt mind it, in fact he almost liked being taller than the girls, given he was 5'10 and finding a girl taller then him was a bit rare. He made sure she had all her things before he started walking down the path. He wanted desperately to reach out and take her hand again, he wanted more to put his arm around her shoulders or her waist, but he withstood his desire. If she took the action, then he would respond, but until then he walked in silence and in his own space, giving her her own space.
After a few moments he said, So, tell me about yourself, about your past. Im curious. I feel like you know my past a bit but I still don't know anything about you. He paused for a moment considering that she may not trust him yet and feel comfortable telling him something so personal. If you feel uncomfortable you don't have to say anything.

Kali didn't mind telling him about her past. There wasn't much to it, and what had happened couldn't be undone. She found no reason to deny him the information. "Well," she said. "I was born on October 31st, Halloween. My parents were killed by Hunters, and I simply lived because the nurse had brought me into the storage room that night because she had ran out of milk formula to feed to me. So I grew up in an orphanage. None of the kids liked me, except for my friend Damian. But he was adopted when we were fourteen, and I've not seen him since. We used to play aweful pranks on the bullies, and we'd reverse their pranks come Halloween time. They called me Black Cat, because they thought that it was my fault that my parents were dead, and they thought I was unlucky. I'd always say something smart back that'd get 'em to shut their mouths, though." Kali shrugged. "I never was adopted. They just let me go from the orphanage when I turned eighteen." And that was it. Her simple past. She didn't tell him anything of where she worked. She assumed that he would think that Oceana was her only job. "Tell me more about your past." she said. "How were you raised?" She wondered what it would be like, to be raised by real parents.

Ryan listened carefully and silently as they walked down the path, slowly heading toward the town, with the lights getting closer. He nodded every now and then. When it came time for him to talk about his past, he was reluctant but knew it was nothing compared to her past.
Well, like I said I was born into a family of Hunters, and it was around since I can remember. They slowly showed me little things, told me unimportant things, until I was old enough for my talisman to appear to me, then they told me more important things, slowly including me into the lives of Hunters. When I was ever older, I started to realize what they really did and I didn't like it. My parents sensed I was not 100% into it, so they used a little more power on me, forcing me little by little until it got to the point when they had to torture me to be a Hunter. They did something that made me one, but as I got older I slowly came out of it, I guess. So they still try to keep me in their ways. He paused and didnt really know what else to say. So he stayed quiet and if she wanted to know more she could ask. But he felt he went into pretty good detail.

"They tortured you?" she repeated his words. Kali's face was solemn. But as she knew, there was nothing that anyone could do to change the past. "How did they torture you?" Maybe growing up with parents wasn't such a good thing afterall. Maybe she was the lucky one. No, her parents would have been good people. She could feel it, or at least wanted to feel it, in her heart. They were Innocents, not Hunters. "Are all parents like that?" she asked him. Kali hoped not. There had to be good parents in the world. She had seen them many times on television.

Ryan shook his head, I don't remember it. It was all fuzzy, I think they gave me something. What I do remember, was the pain. He stopped there not wanting to talk about it. Part of him felt weak for letting their torture conquer him. And no, not all parents are that bad. Most are good and love their children the way they should be loved. He looked at her. You should have been loved like that. He looked down at his feet while they walked, Do you want me to walk you to your door, or drop you off somewhere since you don't trust me? He didnt ask with sarcasm, he was being honest. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable for him offering to walk her to the door like most people do on a date, even though she may or may not consider this a date. He didn't know, but he offered all the same.

Kali thought for a moment. "Oh, you can walk me to the door if you really want to." she finally said. "I don't mind." Him knowing where she lived didn't bother her that much. "But I'll warn you, if you or any of the other Hunters try to sneak in or anything, I'll hurt the person who does. Really I will." She smiled, making it into more of a joke, even though she was serious. "I pick on bullies, remember?" she teased. Kali looked up. "We have to make a left here." said the woman, walking in that direction.

Ryan nodded and followed her left, What if I sneak in for a goodnight kiss? He said it obviously teasing, smiling and little smirk and he gave her a playful nudge with his elbow. He hoped she didnt take that too serious, even though he would like to do it, he wouldnt unless he knew it would be ok. Like when she finally trusted him and maybe they became more then friends, but if not, well, he would keep trying. After all, he was stubborn. Don't worry, I'll keep them away from you, no matter what. I like you too much for you to become a mindless slave. I would miss all your teasing and smart ass attitude. He said laughing a little.

"Well, then I'd just have to eat you." she teased him. It was probably the stupidest thing that she had ever said. I'll just have to eat you? What was that? Kali laughed at her own stupid joke. She made up for it though as he said the next thing. "Well, I can why they were all charmed by you. Just call a lady a smart ass and she'll swoon over you." Kali teased, then said more seriously, "But I do appreciate your help, Ryan." she said, talking about how he had said that he would keep them away. She thought it was sweet of him, even if it still might be a lie.
